A Hidden Gift Of Sensitivity

One of the gifts of being sensitive is our access to the immense richness of our world. It is a beautiful thing to be able to connect so strongly with nature, animals, and other people, both the human and other-than-human world.

Too often, as sensitive people, we feel or are encouraged to see ourselves as “too much.” What is this “too much” quality that is attributed to us?

Is “Too Much” A Gift?

When people are conditioned to specific experiences, habits, and attitudes, something or someone different can be jarring to their accustomed way of perceiving and experiencing. Normally, that might create curiosity or interest; however in a world as highly complex and fast-paced as our modern world, different can be at a minimum unwelcome and inconvenient, and in the extreme, even threatening.

Too often people do not see the high cost of our modern hyper-masculinized world and that we are missing out on a lot by being so driven. Because so many young children enter school at a young age and because of the risks created by out-of-control violence, many young people do not have the immersive experience of nature that is so easy for sensitive people to enjoy.

How “Too Much” Supports Manifesting

When you have access to a lot of energetic information, you can easily see lots of possibilities. That is a wonderful quality that sensitive people have. It opens us to the imaginal realm, which means we can be receptive to possibilities that others may not see. That ability can present some challenges in relationships, however. Since we can only manifest for ourselves, our openness to possibility can be very supportive of our own manifesting and that is its best use: we can use your gifts creatively to meet our needs while serving the world as well.

One other important benefit that we get from being “too much” is the ability to see all of the world, human and other-than-human for the gift it really is. When we connect with all of life that way, we are naturally grateful which is the first condition of manifesting: you need to be appreciative and grateful for what is.

Sensitivity when harnessed properly can lead us to manifest more easily if we know what we want to create in life. Once we know that, manifesting becomes easier.
